You've been Stanthorped!

I'm now in Sommerville Tourist Park with the guys. They actually cleaned the tent for my arrival, and tied a sheet up around my bunk so that I would have my own area in the tent. It was a nice gesture but they neglected to leave an opening for getting into bed, and since I couldn't get the knot undone in the dark I ended up crawling in around the head of the bunk my first night.

On Sunday Paul made us breakfast, and it was oh so British! Eggs, sausage, fried tomato, beans, toast and tea. That night he made Moroccan curry... I think I have found my favorite tent-mate.
Our tent at 6am. Stanthorpe is the coldest place in Queensland, so there is a lot of dew on the ground. It's also the highest I believe.
The picture below is the lake behind our campsite that morning.

The only thing that I have to get used to is that they drink... a lot! One of them started drinking at 9am on both Saturday AND Sunday, he doesn't remember too much from Sunday.
I also met an Irish girl from County Mead who is working in Stanthorpe and lived on the same street that I had in Ireland, but a summer before I was there!
I'm working with two new ladies at work and learning a lot more about Australia. One is a retired nurse who "didn't want to sit around crocheting all day" so has traveled around for the last few years funding it through seasonal work. The other is a teacher and after 37 years teaching said she needed a break before she killed someone (a parent she clarified, not a pupil). She decided to look into farm work to prove that she could in fact do it, and is traveling/working for her 6 month break. Last week we spent a few days planting with John, the father of the farm owner and previous owner himself. They've been talking about the health system, education system, farming and politics, I've mostly been listening with interest, and adding in some points of comparison when I can. Apparently northern Australia is in desperate need of teachers right now and recruiting from the southern states much to their annoyance.
