Bond University

Monday night I made the decision to head to Robina for a couple of nights. I arrived yesterday and am staying with Ian, a friend from University back home. He's attending Bond Uni for Law, and within ten minutes of getting into his car I've been convinced to stay until Sunday. Surprise, surprise mid-week is not the best time to visit people in University, so I'm hanging out until the weekend when Ian has a bit more time to look around. Today I spent a stressful morning by the pool. And got a sun burn after only an hour and a half!! I no longer believe in waterproof sunscreen, I'm pretty sure it's just a marketing maneuver to buy the more expensive brand. In Portugal I developed a base tan (or as close as I get to a tan) so that by the end of my trip I was no longer burning, I have a feeling that that isn't going to happen in Australia with their ozone layer issues. But that's fine, I can support sunscreen companies.

The night before leaving Brisbane I walked to the bridge and took a few shots of Brisbane light up at night. Below is the casino a glow with green and yellow, their Ferris wheel on the South Bank, and the Cultural Center, also on the South Bank.

The day I left I also took the opportunity to check out the Roma Street Parkland that hides a beautiful garden within it. This area is surprisingly unadvertised, but worth the walk if you have a lazy afternoon free, or a strong interest in gardens.

I've also taken to noticing that Australians will shorten any word they're given that has more than two syllables. This was confirmed when I picked up a local Brisbane paper and saw this on the cover! Brissie is Brisbane, and I have actually been corrected while here by locals when I've called it Brisbane!
